Bonjour,

A+
Humberto

Dear Gong creators,

I still love riding waves on my curve 8.9 and it is soo lights to carry it to the water.

But i would request to build a stronger construction with also sandwich on the bottom and rails to make it more suitable to handle on and off the water without damaging it.
To give the figures in proportion: since 2010 i have been supping waves and have had 6 boards including this one. In all that time i needed to have all my previous boards repaired 3 times in total where my curve already had 3 structural repairs in 9 months and number 4 waiting now on bottom rails.
Must say the deck holds perfectly

The overal impact strength does not meet my personal expectations, but that is just me.

I would consider to buy another Gong if it would have the same impact steength on rails and bottom as on the deck.
But the current pro construction does not make me enthousiastic.
Hope this comments helps and please see it as constructive user feedback!

Hello Loop!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. I can understand the desire to want a Board that will not suffer the elements but the PRO Models are just that, PRO. Meaning that they are made to be as lightweight as possible and of very high performance. As a general rule to keep the weight down something must be sacrificed. Making a board with more layers throughout brings up the weight and our Riders who demand a feather weight Board will not be happy. The PRO Models are reinforced throughout the Deck and rail and have a layer on the Hull that tolerates well the flow of water. More sandwich/layers means more weight more comfort yes, but the heavily sought after 'Surf' feeling will be out the door.

You might want to be looking at our WCKF Range for a Board that will hold up better to the daily punishment. And I must remind you that nothing is indestructible.

Thanks

I must add that yes, I expect my Pro boards to be the lightest possible, I wouldn't buy them otherwise.

Also, in daily use, only the deck and the rails are exposed to hits, and they are quite strong. Hitting the bottom is not something that happens normally.

I have had a lot of XTR and Pro boards, but only had to repair them twice for hits in the water (once hitting the bottom in a shorebreak wipeout, once kicking hard the board in a wipeout)

After one of THE BEST sessions yesterday for me ever (and so far with this board), I came of the water with this huge stoke grin that stays for days :) :)
It was 80-150 cm with very clean and powerfull righthanders, freezing cold and sideoffshore medium wind.
Sometime waves were over 200cm and tubing so challenging and great fun.
It was almost a Gong club, I think there were 5 or 6

After this superb session where I fell onto the rails one time with my leg at the end of a ride, it is cracked again.
Again not pointing fingers, but honest user feedback. The rails and bottom are not strong enough (for me atleast). I will repair it again, but this is now number 4 or 5 within 10 months.
Not sure what I do wrong :?

Hello,

these boards have a Pro techno. It means that they can break after any impact. Not every little impact, a serious one of course.
If we add more layers on them, they will not be Pro anymore because they will be more heavy for nothing useful during a regular session.
We have a super strong techno called WCKF. It is almost bullet proof. But it is about 1,5kg more.

It is all about compromise.

If you use a Pro, you must be careful while using them, or accept to do some repair sometime. And honestly, repairs are very easy to do.
The only important thing is to never let water go into it.

Thanks for the honest feedback.

You should try to avoid hitting the board on wipeouts. This is very risky, and can keep you out of the water for days or weeks. Cutting yourself deep on the fins, cracking a rib on the rails... The risk is always there on any impact with the board, try to minimize it.

And of course, every surfer know that the probability of a ding is real on each board hit. But dings are fixable... keep safe!

Hello Loop,

There might be a possibility that when planting your Paddle in order to turn that it is getting stuck there as the Board drives into, and over it. This creates a situation that you will not even feel happening but will leave these type of bruises on the underside of the rail as you are pulling out the Paddle and the blade is hitting the Board as it exits.

The rails are quite well reinforced but a Paddle will do damage unknowingly. Maybe need to focus a bit more on your Paddle technique to help minimize this problem. Rail Savers could help but then you may become to used to the idea that 'there is protection'' and not focus on your rowing. Try to keep the paddle away from the edge at all times.

I hope that helps! Thanks

Hi,

Two months ago I changed my curve 8.4 125l for a curve 7.11 115l. Since that my problem is that I always want to take this board, in all conditions.

It's a dangereous board!!!!!

Bonsoir,

j'ai vu annoncée une Curve 7.6 2015 mais avec des mesures différentes:

https://www.leboncoin.fr/sports_hobbies/1538299287.htm/

Est-ce que vous la connaissez? c'est un proto? on en parle quelque part dans le forum?

j'imagine qu'elle dois ètre un poil plus compliquée que celle de série

Merci
Humberto
