Hello,

Merci.

Thx!
I will try the different setups in a couple of weeks. 8)
I have a Dolphin 8" and Gong 9" but I need something bigger. I am selling my Soul with the Gong 11" this weekend. I hope the Pampa can fill the gap in my quiver.

On entend souvent dire qu'elles rebondissent.

I have now surfed the Pampa 9'6 proto quite a lot of sessions. The Pampa replaced my XTR Freak 9'2 120.

Pros:
+Better volume (24 liters less than Freak) for my light weight makes the board more stable, it is deeper in the water. This is better going out through the waves also.
+Very nice glide in 0,5+ waves, in smaller waves the potential does not show. Like the 9'6 Soul but better, it likes steep faces well.
(The Freak needed 1-1,5m+ to come alive).
+It likes faster waves too.
+Nose riding is easy, when the speed is up or wave face is steep, but harder at slow speed.
+Turns really well, not as the Freak for sure, with little power. Both pivot and carving turn of the tail.
+Great acceleration, perhaps even better than the Freak.
+It can read wave with some chop, the thin rails dig in nicely.

Cons:
-The nose has a tendency to dive at lower speed, or flatter waves. I think this is because of the rails in the tail and the straight tail rocker.
-It does not love steep drops because it is quit flat rocker. I am not surprised of course. The Freak was better.

Summary:
I would say this is a board for every longboard quiver in 0,5-2m waves, 60-75kg even with some wind and chop. Heavier rider if glassy. If you complement with an IT 10' you really don't need another longboard!

Hello Magw,
you are the lucky owner of this beautiful board, so have you ride it as a surfboard or sup or both?
And would you say it's better as a surf, or it's really the best versatile shape for surf/SUP?
I hope that in a few time "l'ours" will offer it again ...perhaps with some differences but with the same spirit of versatility !
(sorry for my english...) thank's

@supas
I only use it as a SUP. I am sure it works just as well without a paddle. I like the possibility to add speed with the paddle in slow small Swedish waves.

If you are experienced super you can enjoy this shape. Or surf only glassy waves and you are 80+ kg.
BUT it is really hard for heavier or medium experienced surfers. Not one of my quite experienced friends can stand up and surf this board if choppy, and I also have challenge to stand up in chop. I use it when it is less wind and/or less chop.
Therefore I think that the new xtr longboards is good for most supers. Below 28" and definitely below 27" wide boards are really tricky and not much fun for the majority of the supers. Very few can handle these boards in normal conditions.
My old Soul was 28" and really good, the Zero was 29,5" and really top. For my waves anyway.

I will complement with 10' IT PU for slow waves less than 1m. The Pampa is better in 0,5+m and faster.

Ok, thank's MagW for your answer,
I'm certainly too naive to think that this board could be used as surf when it's chopy and windy, and as SUP when it's beautiful and glassy...I have forgetten the width's importance; i'll try to stand up on the pampa bamby and will be back here !

The Bamby Pampa same length 9'6 but not as wide and 8 litres less.
23" 5/8 = 60,0 cm
Volume : 88 litres

Pampa XTR is 9' 6 x 25 9/16" x 3 1/4" (2908.4 mm 650.0 mm 82.8 mm)
Volume: 96 liters

If is is glassy and you are not heavy the Bamby Pampa should be fine to stand up and surf.

The new Soul 9'4 can be a very good alternative board, and 2016 in XTR technology.
