HOW TO : feet location, placement des pieds

Message par Ours » mer. janv. 15, 2014 11:51 pm

Hello,

je reprends ici une intervention dans un autre sujet, si vous avez des questions ou éléments :

Ours a écrit :Hello,

the feet location depend on the move you have to do.

The big move : a big step to jump on the best area.
For each board, you have a "best" feet location, where the combination of turn ability and speed is at its max.
Watchout: this location is about 5 to 7cm accurate, forward or backward it is wrong.

The small move : few cm to face the power of the wave.
Then you have some waves more powerful than others. From the "best" location, one of your foot will move to be perfectly located for the kind of power you are facing.

The very little move : few cm to increase the move.
Then your back foot will move a little to increase effects of what you are doing.

Usually, rockers are made to permit you to be perfect with the back foot just backward the side fins and your front foot forward enough to have a great balance/control and place your weight of the speed part of the rocker.

Thanks,
Merci.

My question is regarding is the Curve line boards and the Dark in particular.

I will put a tail pad as far to the tail as possible. Is this where I usually put the back foot, or should I put the pad a bit forward? The tail is quite narrow. Back foot just Backwards thruster fins you say, should I align the pad there? It is to easy to put the back foot to far back on a short board and loose the momentum.

I am appr 65kg incl wetsuit.

Hello,

the tail pad must be glued at 1cm from the leash plug, never more front than 1cm.

Your back foot has not to be on the kicker all the time. The kicker is made to avoid problems when your back foot wants to leave... Usually, your back foot is in the middle or the front of the tail pad. So exactly around the front fins.

Do you have any question?

Thanks,

I'd say also pad 1cm for the tail plug. If the board is too narrow, you can always cut a bit the pad laterally.

Basically, for the bottom the rear foot at the level of the side fins, at the start of the tail pad.
for top turns, from on the kick pad (above the rear fin) to between the fins depending on the steepness of the wave, and the tightness of the turn. You should feel the arch and/or the kick pad.

The wider the stance, the more control you have, useful in big waves, chop, tight turns.

I have only ordered a small tail block. Maybe I should get a complete bigger tail pad intead so I can see and feel where to put the back foot ? What do you think?

Yes, I recommend having a complete tail pad. I favor the one with an arch, in order to know where you are on the pad.
A lot of the turns are done with the foot not completely on the block, it is useful be be able to know where you are even if you are not on the block.

Hello,

if GONG was mine, i would delete this tail block immediately.

But it is more your website than mine 8) 8) 8)

There is no interest except the price on a tail block alone. You need a real tail pad to feel the grip when your back foot goes on it. The kicker helps 2 times a year. The feeling of another grooving on the tail pad helps you on every move on every wave. Never forget it.

Thanks,
