New SUP: One 6'8 vs. Mob 7'2 vs. Cloud 7'7 vs. NFA 7
New SUP: One 6'8 vs. Mob 7'2 vs. Cloud 7'7 vs. NFA 7
Hello friends,
Currently I'm surfing a cloud 8.1 with great joy. It's a great board and actually I would not need a new one thanks to the excellent quality. But I think it's time for something new. I'm surfing on an island in the german North Sea, Beachbreak, 0.5-2.5m, mushy / soft / slow waves, usually 5-8s period.
After discussing some options with Magnus, I think I should go with the ONE. But I wanted to get some opinions on the boards mentioned above/below.
One 6'6 (8) - for turbo
Cloud 7'7 - classic
Mob 7'2- one for all
NFA 7 - I think a bit too wide for me but so smooth and tasty
to myself: advanced, 1.72cm, 63kg, all year
Thank you for your opinions
Sascha

Re: New SUP: One 6'8 vs. Mob 7'2 vs. Cloud 7'7 vs. NFA 7
Hello Sascha!
What I think would compliment the Cloud you already have is the Mob. I believe even on the best most pristine days that you will have up there the Mob will give you all you need and especially in the mush on those days that you probably see more of (mushy and imperfect).
The NFA 7 I think will be a bit big for you and the 7'7 Cloud will be perfect in big percent conditions, but how many of those do you get up there yearly (?).
The Mob will give you the All in One you need and I feel will be the most judicious choice and investment.
Thanks

Maybe as complement of your Cloud a One would be better for my opinion. A Mob maybe could be too close to the cloud.
The NFA 7 (that I have) maybe is a little bit big, same for me, but i use it as "safe" board, when I have no space, when I have to put just one board into the car, when is hard, choppy, windy, when the forecast are uncertain, so I just take my trusty NFA 7' and I'm sure that I'll do something! maybe not at the best but fun is guaranteed.
last thing Sascha, never think about a longsup (though you already have an IT but will be really different)?

at first Thx for quick response
Long SUP: I enjoy riding a longboard but our mostly choppy mushy waves arent that good for hanging on the nose. Its more about quick running arround. And since I surf the cloud it is my board to go. It works in small kneehigh and overhead waves.
Also I love the natural speed of my IT and so I have a longboard and Long SUP in one shape. Its a bit big for my size but it works.
From my experience in our conditions a shorter board is without big disadvantage due to the short wave period.
I was thinking about complement my Cloud with an Ten Blues for the "alternative" or maybe with a Matata so I need more money for more board

Like JGONG, I would advise the Mob. The One is a very good board, but hard to control above shoulder high, and being short and wide, it paddles very slowly in chop and needs more precise placement for taking off. Coming from a 8'1" it will be too big a step to be enjoyable I think.
