2018 Zero 110 SP or Freak SP 120?
2018 Zero 110 SP or Freak SP 120?
I am a bit hesitant which board to choose as my most extreme SUP.
I am 64kg. I have surfed quite many sessions on the old (2014?) Freak XTR 120, which was 65cm wide and 120. The volume on the old was a lot for me, the board acted like a log on the surface in the wind and I was struggling with the balance. I always have a lot of wind and wind-chop.
Therefore I am thinking that 110 litres on the Zero would be easier in the wind?
But there are more issues, e.g the shape.
The shape of the new Freak seems to definitely be more adapted to my slow and mushy waves. Not as extreme as the old Freak, and the new Zero I think? This speaks for the Freak SP.
I will use the board in 0,7-2m slower waves.
What do you think?

Re: 2018 Zero 110 SP or Freak SP 120?
At 64 kg, I think a not-too-narrow 80l board could be the ideal one. A 80l Moblog?
It should be akin to my 118l Moblog SP for my 100kg, which is great because it sits quite low in the water and thus do not roll much in the chop. And I found out that a low volume board can still take off very early in the longboard shapes.
My Moblog at 118lx70cm is much stabler than was my Final at 125lx69cm
The longboard surfs in Pro are nearly there (Ten Blues, Pampa, Moblog...), but may be a bit too narrow for using in a lot of wind?

I had a Pampa XTR SUP before but I sold it, unfortunately. I would love to have another like that. It was ~95 liters and 9'6x67cm if I remember correctly. A great board in >50cm! I sold it tooo fast...

Hello,
as an extreme board, you have to go extreme. The Zero will be perfect.
Of course you will not use it every day, but on the best days, it will be fantastic.

I have to give it a thought, and probably sell some boards first. My quiver is VERY big at the moment!
