Wich CM 2019 should I take? 9,5 or 10,9 or ???
Wich CM 2019 should I take? 9,5 or 10,9 or ???
After this season I want to change my "vacation" Board. This a BIC AirSup 10x30x6 from 2013.
I need a board for the ocean, paddling an light surfing. The BIC is a quiet good Board, but for me an my wife its not stable enough while paddling along the coastline. And with its thickness of 6" its too thick for Surfing.
I´m around 90kg /183cm, my wife is around 55kg/175cm. We both have two 12,6er for paddeling on lakes. We are experienced in Sup´ing.
I´m in love with the new CM 9,5. Because it´s short and wide. But my stomach say: "take the 10,9". Its more wide and even more stable. But I don't want to turn an aircraft carrier in the line up... And on flat days it could be very slow with it´s wide.
We both want a board that is easy to paddle on flat days, with the possibility to take waves until 1m.
So guys... what can you recommend?

Hi Knefi,
If I were you, I would go on the 10'9, if you want to have only one board while travelling. This board is a bit longer and wider for more stability while cruising. You have to keep in mind that the thickness is only 4'', so you'll have a big difference between the Couine Marie and your BIC Airsup. It's a FUN and easy board for both surfing and cruising
Regarding to your weight, I'm afraid that the 9'5 will be only dedicated for surfing, and will have to much ROW effect while cruising.

Re: Wich CM 2019 should I take? 9,5 or 10,9 or ???
Hi Nico, thank you!
For cruising on lakes we have two 12,6x28x6.
I don't know how it feels to paddle a 4" thin Board. My BIC has got 200l Volume, the CM 10,9 got 215l, and the CM 9,5 got 180l.
Do I need the 15l more ?
Starting a wave with the BIC is really difficult, because of its length, thickness and volume it´s very hard to lift the nose up.
And I think its not stiff enough. It often sucks on the green wave, and if I'm giving pressure on the tail to lift the nose it looks a little bit like a banana before the nose is getting air.
I agree with you, that the 10,9 might be the right board for easy und slow cruising on the ocean. But cruising on the ocean for us is only to paddle a little bit along the shoreline on flat days. If there are waves we go out for surfing.
I'm only afraid that the 9,5 is not stiff enough for my Bodyweight. I see me standing on it, nose and tail in the air and my feets in the Water...
I think I have to buy both

I would go for the 9'5".
Its 32" width will provide some stability, but the sleek nose is what really will change things for you in the surf.
And do not worry, the CMs are incredibly rigid. Even for 100kg.
The 10'9" will better better for a cruise/surf mix. But this is not what you say you aim for.

2019: 7'3" Fatal 105L, Alley 7'8" 105L & 8'1" 120L, Zero 9'0" 115L
2022: Mob 7'6" cool 120L, Alleys custom 7'10" 112L & 8'1" 114L
2023: Karmen custom 7'11" 118L
Surf: 9'1" XTR proto glider

Hi Knefi,
I do agree with the fact that the 9'5 will be a good SUP for you, if dedicated for surfing (and only cruising during flat days). I was thinking about the 10'9 to have only one board when you're on a roadtrip, to have something really versatile.
Nevertheless, don't be afraid about the 4'' thickness. The Couine Marie is a premium construction, you won't have a "banana" beneath your foot, this board is really stiff, even on the 9'5!
Thanks

Re: Wich CM 2019 should I take? 9,5 or 10,9 or ???
Thank you guys.
My decision went on the 10.9.
I'm very happy with this Board. During 3weeks in france and spain i could test ist on different conditions.
For me this is the perfect board for light paddling on the ocean and ride some small waves.
Very stable, nevertheless fast, and very easy to turn. Another great point is, that it doesn't suck on the green wave.
The workmanship of this Board is absolutely High-Class. I also have a SIC X12,6 Airglide and so I can compare this...
The SIC is pretty expansive and a very great board. The Gong 100% on the same level!
