i was wondering about the difference between asylation and nfa? maybe asylation is more similar to the cloud?

In short, yes the Acylation is a Cloud for small waves. Since it has only 100 liters and a wide tail it turns really really well. But when it gets steeper the Cloud is better of.

the winter cold came within a week, snow and below zero temperatures! Ouch!
A month ago it was warm and sunny. But this year has been unusualy warm, exceptional actually.
Strange weather patterns and very little low pressure wind for 10 months. We have been surfing almost every day possible. Pictures are from October, a small, messy but warm day. NFA9' xtr and 9' "xtr slim" can surf every possible wave!

The last sessions of 2016 were really great, mostly on the IT 10' XTR and NFA9' slim XTR. This is Dec 24th in 35kts onshore winds. And 3 degrees Celsius in the air and the water.

Quiver of 2017 is coming to life!
Mob 7'2 SP

Freak 9'2 SP

And then the IT 10' for soft and small and bigger Mob, we will see where 2017 ends...
A Zero SP would be nice for bigger days, but I will test the Freak SP in big waves before I order any more boards. I think :? ??

The surf season of 2017has had a slow start. No real winter storms and not very windy in general. Winter is usually the windiest period for us but not this year. But the next week looks promising!

My second test of the Mob 7'2 SP today. Wind swell, slow 0,5-2 m, and some chop but only around 10kts wind. Still quite choppy and very very foggy, we almost did not see the beach from the lineup.

Image

The 7'2 SP is an amazing board!!! :D Much easier to balance this second session, the first session was a real struggle, and we had bigger waves this time which helps the board to come alive.

Take off is really easy and nice on steeper waves, it accelerates directly, and it can even take flatter waves with some paddling power. But some slope on the wave helps a lot.
I am not moving my feet that much front and aft, not like the SUPlongboard-take off. Some weight on the front leg and the back leg not too far back is my recipe so far.

It turns on a dime! So sharp and with great feedback force on my body. And it keeps the speed very well even after sharp 180 degree turns. This is like a skate board!

A great shape - thx Patrice & co!

We had the best surfing for a long time in the snow   a couple of weeks ago!
Around zero degrees Celsius in the water & air!
A strong wind blew the whole night and then died completely. Dream conditions!!!

Image

A NFA9' XTR and a NFA9' slim XTR made the session perfect!
The waves were very steep, rising fast in the outgoing current and even tubing now and then. Wow!

The longboard quiver has been big 2017.
10' IT Pro
9'4 Soul SP Pro
9'2 Freak SP Pro
9' NFA slim XTR
I have to get rid of 2 longboards, I have no more rooms in the house...! :)

Therefore I have decided to sell the NFA to start with, although it is the best allround longboard I have ever tried. It surfs anything from 20cm and up, no matter if its windy and choppy or glassy! I just love it!
Image

Image

Image

The Freak is a little big for my weight at 110 liters and I am leaning towards selling this to, we will see. But the Freak is great in small waves. However the IT is just as good, but more sensitive to chop and strong winds.

The Soul is my overall favorite! I have missed this board ever since I sold my Caribou Soul a couple of years ago. And the new shop in SP is close to the ideal board for me in 0,5m and bigger. In Landes waves it is a dream, up to 2,5 m. In very fast steep waves the tail is a little wide to keep 100% control, although I have surfed 3m very fast waves to in glassy conditions. So it can be done. Wow, the Soul is a must in my quiver for 2018!!!

And the 10'IT is aslo a necessity for slow small Swedish waves, you just can't live without this kind of board. The NS would probably also work fine, certainly for heavier riders.

I have alos tried the Mob Log SP in France last week, so now I am only missing to test the Zero SP!
The Mob Log had the most amazing glide and acceleration of all Gong longboards I have tried so far. And it turns, but with a completely different technique than e.g the Freak. Push hard with the back foot on the pad, pow. Cool! Noseriding is really easy.

It would be perfect for slow waves in Sweden, but it is really big for my weight. Both the overall width and the volume (118) is something I have to work quite hard to overcome with muscle force. But it was a cool experience to test this unique concept. Thx Patrice for daring to push the limits!

Tried the Freak SP a session with slow 0,5-1,5 m waves and it worked fantastic!
As long as the speed of the wave and the board is relatively slow it surfs great. Very stable. Turns are a blast and nose riding just too easy! A great performer, I haven't tried it for a while and I was surprised how good it was!
-10 litres and it would be perfect for me I believe.
