Carbon paddle damaged

Hello to all, i've damages my carbon surf paddle on the blade and, unfortunately, the water come inside and after one week under the sun is already inside because whe i shake the paddle can ear water inside the shaft near the blade..How can i re move the water?
I want repare whit fiberglass 200gr/m2 and epoxy resin because carbon sheets aren't easy to find... It's the same i believe, right?

For the shaft, I just drilled 2 small holes ( ~ 3mm) on each side ~ 20cm under the handle
and moving the shaft to make the water run in it, blow in one hole like a flute to make the water come out from the other. Works quite well without drilling big holes.



On the paddle edge, I use glass cloth, as carbon is quite rigid.
Fill the hole with glass threads from the cloth, and wrap a glass cloth wetted with resin and put a PVC tape on it to hold it in place.

It happened once when I forgot to change my vinyl electrical tape that was worn out.

Hello,

You can repair it with Epoxy and fiberglass, no problem.

Don't laminate over the ding.
Protect the blade with tape.
Open the ding with 2 screw drivers and inserts some wet (with epoxy) fiberglass layers into the blade, between the carbon skins.
Put enough of these fiberglass to feed the hole.
Remove the screw drivers and press the ding to make all tight together.
Then sand carefully.

so it's sufficient to fill the rift whit epoxy-fiberglass, then press it, let dry and sand carefully...

yes it is. If you put enough fabric into the blade between the 2 sheets of carbon, of course it is nice.

Please post the pics of the repair to help others if you have time to do it. This should be really helpful and we can control if the job has been well done

i've done little holes on shaft an some water come out but shaking the paddle i feel water inside yet.
it's a really problem if i do the reparation and water (a little bit) remain inside?

Did you try to make the water flow over a hole and blow at the same time by the other? you should be able to get all water out this way.

Epoxy doesnt like saly water for curing, so it is best to repair on dry carbon.

After some tests in saltwater i can say thath the repairing was well done.
Following yours suggestions i've done two holes near the handle and warm the paddle whit phon to dry it.
So i've sand the broken point and filled it whit fiberglass...


And at the end i've sanded it carefully

The holes near the handle has been cover ed whit the same procedure an then proteste with a strong self agglomerating wrap
